Whitewater Road Race

I'm too lazy at the moment to write a good report of the race, but I'll post the message I emailed my teammates:

I did go to Whitewater Sunday. 7 cat 4 women. Basically, just like I
know I'm absolutely not supposed to do, I sat up front and pulled the entire
race. The first lap I figured, no big deal, we're going so easy I'm not
using any energy anyway. My legs were still sore from the week before so it
actually felt good to work them in. Even when I slowed to a crawl no one
came around. Finally a few girls from a team of 3 from Illinois did short
stints of work. I kept expecting them to repeatedly send riders on attacks
and block us out...but nothing happened. I finally figured out absolutely
nothing was going to happen in this race so I was content to sit up front
and at least remotely get a workout. I did build the only gap (with 1 other
girl in tow) on the hill on the last lap, so at least I did something. Would
have just attacked more to pick up the pace and make it interesting if my
legs would have been feeling normal. I have a mental block on my ability to
sprint finish, so I don't even try yet, that's why I'd rather mix it up
during the race and not have it come to a field sprint. Anyways, road
racing is very frustrating for me yet. I'm used to riding much harder
throughout as with the guys. This race everyone rode together sloooow for
28.8 miles, then sprinted the finish, which I find extremely boring!! As I
said, I don't contest the sprint (and my legs were too sore to anyway) so I
was 6 of 7. Coyote Sam won, CZ velo Shelly 2nd, BBC triplets next.

As for the 1/2/3s- Kristin Kehl won by a huuuuge gap. followed by a coyote
then a UW, and then all the cows.

Well, maybe next time I'll be with some of you guys and you can help me get
used to 'race' riding.
Good job at the state crit!!! anyone at BSG?
happy riding,
-M
